EBNA ROYAL CONSULT COLLECT DATA FROM FAIR TRADE GHANA NETWORK’S MEMBERS FOR A COCOA SECTOR CONTEXT ANALYSIS REPORT

The Coordinator of Fair Trade Ghana Network and the lead Consultant of EBNA Royal Consult visited eight (8) member cocoa POs, namely; West Akyem Cooperative, ABOCFA, FANTEAKWA, Kuapa Kokoo, Offinso Fine Flavour, Asunafo North Cocoa Cooperative, Kukuom Cocoa Cooperative and Amansie West Cocoa Cooperative to elicit data as inputs for the preparation of context analysis report of the cocoa sector of Ghana. Data was collected from the POs using an interview guide which was prepared and sent to each of the POs prior to the engagement.

Focus group discussion involving key executives and selected members of the POs were used to elicit responses. This was to enable FTGN and its members understand and appreciate the issues, opportunities, risks, and threats regarding the implementation of new public and private sustainability standards in the cocoa sector (standards, regulations etc).
The collected data covered relevant thematic areas such as: key challenges, effects, opportunities, risks/threats of the cocoa sector of Ghana. Policy and regulatory recommendations were also obtained.
At each of the data collection points, the coordinator of FTGN, Mr. Felix Ayambire reminded respondents about the entire advocacy action being undertaken by FTGN with funding support from the French Development Agency and the French Global Environment Facility through Agronomists and Veterinarians without Borders (AVSF) and Commerce Equitable France.
