The Equity Project

Fair Trade Ghana Network was revamped in November 2016 through the Equity Project, after a dormancy period of about two years caused by lack of funding.

The Equity Project is a sub-regional project with the aim of contributing to the sustainable economic development of low-income countries, fighting against poverty and strengthening family agriculture by supporting the development of equitable sustainable sectors in West Africa. The Equity Project is funded by Agence Française de Development (AFD) – The French Development Agency and Fonds Français pour L'environnement Mondial (FFEM)- French Facility for Global Environment.

The first Phase of the project was from 2016 to 2018 and it covered 6 West African countries (Togo, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Mali) and the second Phase from 2020 to 2022.

FTGN is grateful to their financiers for the grant support for the two-year period of the phase 2 project and look forward to more for the 3rd and 4th years of the phase 2 Equity project. Five of our members are also benefitting from the current phase of the equity project. In addition, support for three more cooperatives is still in the pipeline. It is the support of this Equity project which has made it possible for us to engage with you today.
