Fair Trade Ghana Network

Our membership ranges from organisations producing Cocoa, Banana, Pineapple, Citrus, Shea, Mango, Coconut and Handicrafts.
Our members are in all the regions except the Northern, Upper west and Volta.

There are two (2) types of membership:
Full and Associate

A. Full Membership

Full membership is open to all producer organizations certified either by Fairtrade, WFTO,
Ecocert, or other recognized labels. The certified organizations must meet the following
criteria to be considered for full membership:
1. Be legally registered and established under the relevant Ghanaian laws.
2. Be certified under FLO, WFTO, Ecocert or other organized labels
3. Operate from a functioning office
4. Submit a duly completed application form for membership and pay the prescribed
subscription
5. Maintain governance structures and processes that take account of the needs of various
stakeholders, while ensuring decision-making processes are democratic and, in the best,
interest of its members 6. Make a formal declaration to abide by the rules and regulations governing ordinary
membership.

Once membership has been conferred it will be renewed once all the above criteria still
apply and payment of the annual subscription has been made. Where a member fails to
pay the annual subscription within six months of the relevant financial year, membership
shall be deemed to have ceased, and a new application for membership will have to be
made.
Decertified members shall be helped to regain their certification.

B. Associate Membership

Associate membership shall be granted to producer organizations that are not currently
certified by any of the fair-trade labelling organizations, or non-producer organizations
operating under the fair-trade rules prior to their certification.
Producer organizations applying for associate membership shall meet the following criteria.
1. Be legally registered and properly established under the relevant national laws
2. Complete an application form for membership and make payment of applicable fees;
3. Payment of the annual subscription which shall be one-half of the rate for full
membership.
4. Make a declaration to abide by the rules and regulations governing associate membership
of the organization
Once membership has been conferred it will be renewed once all the above criteria still

shall be deemed to have ceased, and a new application for membership will have to be
made.
