GHANA HOST THE FOURTH STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE EQUITY 2 PROGRAM IN GHANA

The fourth annual steering committee meeting of the Equity 2 Program was held in Ghana from 7th to 9th March 2023 at NODA Hotel in the Ashanti region of Ghana. A total of 28 participants from six countries; Ghana, Togo, Benin, Cote d’voire, France, and Kenya were present for the steering committee meeting. These participants including representatives from Fair trade France (CEF), Agronomist and Veterinarians without Borders (AVSF), French Development Agency (AFD), Fair trade National platforms, Fairtrade Africa, and Fair trade certification bodies (WFTO, SPP, Bio partner, Ecocert). The President, Secretary, Coordinator, the Finance and Administrative Officer, and the organizer of Fair Trade Ghana Network (FTGN) attended this event.

The objective of this meeting was to share the results of the activities of the 3rd year of the project as well as present the major timelines for the implementation of the project activities in 2023. Highlights of the Equity 2 project were provided by all partners and the program manager. The Coordinators of the different Fair trade Labels of WFTO, FTA, SPP, Biopartnaire also made presentations with focus on their achievements.
There was also a platform seminar from the 10th to 11th March 2023 for further deliberation and knowledge sharing among the platforms.
Prior to the commencement of the meeting, the team embarked on a field visit on the 6th of March 2023, to ACOPPs and AMOPPA organic producers and exporters limited located in the central region of Ghana to observe their agroecological practices.
